Bio
Luciana Ferrer is a researcher at the Computer Science Institute, affiliated to the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), Argentina. Luciana received her Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from Stanford University, USA, in 2009, and her Electronic Engineering degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2001.
Luciana’s primary research area is machine learning applied to speech and audio processing tasks. She has worked extensively on the tasks of speaker and language recognition, with special focus on the problem of score calibration and robustness to domain mismatch. She currently leads a team of researchers working on a variety of speech processing tasks including pronunciation scoring, emotion and personality recognition, neurological disorder detection, universal audio representation, and natural language processing.
Luciana is a board member of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) and was Technical Program Chair of the Interspeech 2024 conference. She has been invited speaker at international events, including the Khipu AI meeting in 2019 and 2023, ASRU 2021 and Odyssey 2020. She has over 170 publications which have received more than 7700 citations.
